Confusion begins in early childhood when you start to understand your reality. If your reality contradicts with your natural reactions your system can become confused. It's another protective layer to keeping you safe. Any traumatic experience, whether mild or severe can add a layer of confusion. Why did it happen, was it my fault and you might also experience an inability to tell if your experiences occurred in the way you remember. Remaining in a state of confusion can protect you from any underlying causes and keep your trauma hidden.
